Telah sejak lama beberapa antivirus luar negeri melakukan kesalahan pendeteksian (false positive) terhadap PCMAV. Salah satu yang sering dilaporkan adalah AVG. Walau begitu, PC Media sejak awal telah menegaskan sikapnya bahwa kami tidak akan mengubah sedikit pun kode program yang melekat pada PCMAV. Justru PC Media menyarankan Anda untuk melakukan komplain ke vendor antivirus tersebut agar mereka segera memperbaiki engine antivirusnya.

Seorang pembaca setia majalah PC Media, Rizki Kurniawan, ternyata melakukan apa yang PC Media
sarankan. Dia melakukan komplain ke vendor AVG, dan akhirnya AVG
memperbaiki kesalahan pendeteksian tersebut. Berikut kutipan e-mailnya:

Thank you for your email.  PCMAV-CLN.exe, PCMAV-RTP.exe - false positives

Unfortunately, the previous virus database might have detected the virus(Trojan Horse) on some legitimate applications.

We can confirm that it was a false alarm.

We already released new virus database update and it has removed detection ofthis file (PCMAV) as a virus.

Please, update your AVG to the latest virus database and check your files again.

We are sorry for the inconvenience.
